Who are we?
Members of the Dallas Storytelling Guild range from dedicated listeners to beginning storytellers to full-time professional tellers. Our stories come from many cultures and include traditional folktales, family and personal stories, cowboy poetry, tall tales, and outright lies! Professional and skilled amateur storytellers from the Guild provide programs at venues such as schools, churches, civic organizations, corporations and festivals.

Interest in storytelling is growing and evolving as listeners of all ages experience the joy of stories. Stories are delightful sources of entertainment. They give voice to our oral traditions and history. Stories can shed light on difficult situations and offer pathways for communication and healing. They can help us understand different cultures, providing building blocks toward peace. The power of story lies with the listener, for stories resonate differently with each of us. But a story is powerless until told. So, if you know of a venue where listeners gather - from living rooms and corporate board rooms to public venues such as coffee shops, book stores, churches or pubs - please consider contacting the Guild. We would like to create a storytelling experience tailored just for you!

Come and join our story circle!
Our story circle meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday of every month during which time we...we share STORIES! We also plan and discuss upcoming events. Many tellers use the Story Circle for practice and feedback as they work to bring a story to life. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn from the experiences of our more-seasoned members. Feel free to come and listen & to participate as you are comfortable. And yes, school-age children are always welcome! Details for upcoming meetings are listed on the News page.
